Dan Moor on trial with Yorkshire Carnegie

Canadian international Dan Moor is currently on trial at RFU Championship club Yorkshire Carnegie. After winning a Blue in the Varsity Match last year for Oxford University, the 28-year-old is now looking to secure a professional deal with the Leeds-based club having also impressed with the Wasps reserve side in the Premiership ‘A’ League last year.

Hailing from Toronto where he played club rugby with Balmy Beach, Moor made his international debut in the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship. He has won 14 test caps to date, the last coming in the second World Cup qualifying match against the US Eagles at San Diego in July 2017.

Moor’s return to international contention would be timely for Canada following the recent decision of Jeff Hassler to step away from the sport. Should he reach a deal with the club, who already have prop Jake Ilnicki on their books, Moor would join fellow Canadian caps Brett Beukeboom, Matt Evans, Ciaran Hearn, and Shane O’Leary, as well as uncapped age-grade reps Justin Blanchet and Richard Townsend.

His first run-out with Carnegie came in a preseason match against Otley on Saturday. Wearing 14 but playing on the left wing, Moor showed his strength with a well-finished try in the 55th minute of the match, which can be viewed in the highlights below.
