Officials panel named for HSBC Sevens Series

The Americas will have two referees on the senior match officials panels for the 2018-19 HSBC Sevens Series, one each on the men’s and women’s circuits. Argentina’s Damián Schneider returns on the men’s panel while the USA’s Emily Hsieh has been awarded her first major international appointment.

Schneider, 26, will take part on the men’s circuit for the third consecutive year. He has had regular appointments in the 15-a-side game over the past couple years including the South American Championship and Americas Rugby Championship.

Hsieh, 28, becomes the third female USA referee to referee on the women’s circuit following Dana Teargarden and Leah Berard. She is promoted after taking part in the women’s series qualifiers in Hong Kong earlier this year.

A total of 15 nations are represented in the selections. Australia lead the way with five, followed by three for New Zealand and two each for England, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales. Argentina, Fiji, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Portugal, and the USA have one each selected.
