Rebranded Centroamericano 2018 Tournament Coming in August

A Rebranded Centroamericano 2018 tournament is coming in August. The new competition replaces the South American C Championship yet retains its status as uniquely including Central American Republics. The competitors are to be El Salvador, Honduras, and Panama.

Not taking part are Costa Rica and Guatemala. Both earned promotion to this year’s Sudamericano 4 Naciones B. The 2018 tournament will be played in Guatemala with Peru and Venezuela being the remaining competitors.

The rebranded Centroamericano competition has a new format. For 2018 it is to be played in multiple locations with matches being played on August 11, 18 and 25. The player-friendly scheduling will enable full recovery between matches, a notable change from prior years which tended to have match splayed every three days.

The Tri Nations tournament sees regulars El Salvador and Panama with Honduras also participating. Not competing is Nicaragua. As such all three countries will play one home match and one on the road.
