Summer Cup Highlights – Georgia XV vs Argentina XV

The inaugural Summer Cup kicked-off on Saturday with the Georgia XV taking-on the Argentina XV. The respective Official ‘A’ sides continued the rivalry of the test teams of the Lelos and Los Pumas.

In completing a 23-22 win the Georgia XV tasted their first victory over Argentina at senior level. It follows on from an impressive result from the 2017 Junior World Championship in which Georgia defeated Argentina at U20’s level.

The Georgia XV’s victory over the Argentina XV was very much against the script. The Eastern Europeans had been well behind at half time and had very much been out performed by their South American opponents.

Facundo Cordero, Rodrigo Bruni, and debutant Mayco Vivas all scored first half tries. But with the Argentina XV unable to score a point at all in the second half the Georgia XV went on to claim a famous victory.
