USA set to face Spain in November

The US Eagles are set to confirm a match against Spain on November 10 at a venue to be confirmed. It will bring the USA’s November calendar up to three matches, with the expectation of a fourth – a third test – still to be added.

On November 3 the USA will play host to the Māori in Chicago. The fixture is part of the special Rugby Weekend triple-header at Soldier Field. Also confirmed is a rare match in Europe against a Tier 1 opponent. The Eagles will play Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on November 24.

For the Eagles, the November Internationals will be the final tour before the 2019 World Cup. USA will compete in the Pool of Death in Japan, facing Argentina, England, France, and Tonga.

In addition to the match against the USA, Spain is to also have home internationals against Samoa and Namibia. Samoa recently qualified for RWC 2019 while Namibia is expected to seal their spot as Africa 1 next month.

Spain were disqualified from RWC 2019 qualifiers after fielding two players who were captured by France. The extensive process also saw Romania disqualified, thereby losing their already qualified position which has instead gone to Russia.

The unfortunate series of events is not stopping Spanish dreams. The target has instead been postponed from RWC 2019 to RWC 2023. With this in mind Los Leónes will play a three-match home series this coming November, officially as stage one of the road to France 2023.
