Uruguay have secured an impressive four-match schedule for their November tour to Europe. Included are two exhibition matches against Guinness Pro 14 sides and a pair of test matches against high quality opposition – Fiji and Romania.
Los Teros will start their three-week trip against Cardiff Blues on Tuesday, November 6, followed by a match against Ulster in Belfast on Friday, November 9. Both clubs finished with winning records in the 2017-18 Guinness Pro 14 season and will play in the 2018-19 Champions Cup.
A neutral-venue clash against 9th-ranked Fiji will follow on Saturday, November 17 at a location to be confirmed. This will be the first test against a top-10 side for Los Teros since the 2015 World Cup. It will be the third time the two nations have met, both during World Cup competition with Fiji winning at both the 1999 and 2015 World Cups. Los Teros defeated the Fiji Warriors in the Nations Cup and will now take the step up to the senior Fijian side.
Closing out the tour will be a match against Romania on Saturday, November 24. Though currently ranked 17th – one spot above Uruguay – the Oaks will not be part of the World Cup after being sanctioned for fielding an ineligible player during the qualification process. Los Teros played two tests against Romania in 2016, losing 40-0 in June and 36-10 in November. Both matches were played in Bucharest.
All matches will be broadcast locally on DirecTV.
