Pablo Matera is free to face the Lions. The Jaguares captain has had his two-week suspension from SANZAAR overturned, making him able to return to lead the team with immediate effect.
SANZAAR’s Judiciary Committee had deemed the clearing out of a ruck in Saturday’s game against the Sharks, by Matera, to have been a red card offense. With it not having been determined as such at the moment of the incident in the 18th minute of play the committee banned him for two weeks.
The UAR disagreed with the decision, which included Head Coach Mario Ledesma noting two similar incidents in Los Jaguares’ prior match against the Bulls, and have come away successful.
The UAR appealed on the grounds that similar incidents have not been sanctioned by SANZAAR to which the Disciplinary Committee agreed.
On Monday Matera trained together with Tomás Lezana as the starting flankers. This saw Marcos Kremer reverting to the second-row. Without Matera in training on Tuesday Kremer filled-in for his captain with Matías Alemanno joining Guido Petti in the second-row.
For Saturday’s Quarter Final against the Lions Matera is set to captain the side from flanker. He is expected to be joined by Kremer and Javier Ortega Desio as the back-row trio.
The team for the Quarter Final will be announced on Thursday morning, Argentine time. The play-off will take place at the world famous Ellis Park in Johannesburg on Saturday morning at 10:05am Argentine time.
