Men’s Eagles named for Rugby World Cup Sevens

Mike Friday has named his 12-man squad to represent the USA at this weekend’s Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco. The roster is largely as expected with seven members of the 2016 Rio Olympic team included and three who were part of the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England.

Leading the team is Madison Hughes with Ben Pinkelman an able deputy in a vastly experienced group. World Rugby Player of the Year Perry Baker is fit for duty as is fellow flyer Carlin Isles, with Danny Barrett a headliner up front and Folau Niua assuming his regular playmaker role.

The Eagles enter the knock-out style tournament as the No5-ranked seed earning them a bye in the opening round. They will play the winner of Wales vs Zimbabwe on Friday evening at 9:37pm local time, 12:37am Eastern. US-based viewers can watch live on NBC.
