Ciencias Cajasol Signs Two Argentines

Spanish club Ciencias Cajasol has announced the signings of two Argentines who will play in the upcoming season.

On his way to Ciencias Cajasol is Santiago Pando. The winger is the second new recruit ahead of the 2018-2019 season, following Mitchel MacCartney. Pando joins from Spanish club rivals Trcadero Marbella.

The 23-year-old Pando left his native Córdoba to play for Spain. He did so from Tala Rugby Club, the 2017 runners-up in Argentina’s domestic club competition the Nacional de Clubes.

Eleven years older than Pando is Gonzalo Padró. He has signed a contract to remain at Ciencias Cajasol for the upcoming División de Honor season. Padró is a 115km and 1.97m second-rower. A seasoned veteran, Padró has vast experience playing in Europe.

Like Pando, Padró played in Córdoba prior to Europe. He did so for La Tablada, another highly successful club from Argentina’s second largest city.

Padró has extensive history playing in Europe. He played in Italy for Rovigo before playing for French club Biarritz. Back in Italy, Padró played for Petrarca Padova in the Eccellenza before playing for Benetton Treviso in the Guinness Pro 14 Championship. From there his career continued at Mogliano and Viadana before moving to Spain.
