Scotland name team for RWC 7s

Head coach John Dalziel has named his 12-man Scotland squad for the upcoming Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco. Included are just six of the squad that competed at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year and two players who did not feature at all on the recently completed 2017-18 HSBC Sevens Series.

Veteran forward Scott Riddell leads the side with Fijian Jo Nayacavou and former Bath fullback Jack Cuthbert also featuring up front. Gavin Lowe and hard-running Jamie Farndale are also experienced heads while there are surprise selections in Craig Jackson and Sam Pecqueur.

Scotland will start in the second round of the knock-out style competition and won’t have to wait long to find out their opponent which will be the winner of Kenya vs Tonga in the opening match of the competition. The Scots finished 12th on this year’s HSBC circuit.
