Bosch Sidelined Following Surgery

Marcelo Bosch is sidelined following surgery. The Saracens outside center will miss the start of the English Premiership season after undergoing surgery on both of his shoulders.

The 34-year-old Argentine mid-fielder has won both the European Champions Cup and English Premiership titles with Saracens. His quest to add further to his club success will need to wait until October or later following his rehabilitation.

A potential return for Bosch has been set for late October. This date means the potential of a return to international duty in 2018 is out of the question. Bosch fell victim to Argentina’s selection policy of blocking European-Based players from Los Pumas in 2016 to present.

The new coaching team is set to end the policy, enabling the return of some players based in Europe for the Rugby Championship. Bosch will not be one of them meaning Matías Moroni and Matiás Orlando are likely to be the options for the Southern Hemisphere’s annual championship.

Bosch will turn 35 in January 2019. The possibility of a return for selection for RWC 2019 is nonetheless far from being out of the question. This past season Bosch was Argentina’s leading outside center, performing with regularity at a higher level than those involved with Los Jaguares and the Argentina XV.
