Ghislaine Landry To Lead Canada At 2018 RWC 7’s

Ghislaine Landry is to lead Canada at the 2018 RWC 7’s in San Francisco, California. Canada’s Women’s Head Coach John Tait has named Landry as skipper of a 12-woman roster.

Landry is the all-time leading Women’s point scorer on the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Series. Her 984 points make her one of the leading figures set to appear at the 2018 RWC 7’s in Northern California.

Joining Landry in returning from the 2013 RWC 7’s in Moscow, Russia are Kayla Moleschi and Bianca Farella. The trio won Silver Medals at the 2013 tournament and are now looking to go one better in two weeks time.

Completing the roster are Olivia Apps, Britt Benn, Pam Buisa, Caroline Crossley, Julia Greenshields, Sara Kaljuvee, Breanne Nicholas, Natasha Watcham-Roy, and Charity Williams. All of them have features for Canada on the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Series.

The upcoming 2018 RWC 7’s will feature 40 teams – 24 Men’s and 16 Women’s. Rugby will be played from July 20-22, taking place under a new format of an elimination tournament in which teams will be required to win every match en route to the final and also win the final to be World Champions.

Canada will face Brazil in their opening fixture. In what is to be a Round-of-16 match the Canadians will have an opportunity of booking a place in the Quarter Finals right away. A failure to do so will see Canada eliminated.
