Hindú Win Nacional de Clubes Four Years Running

Hindú won the Nacional de Clubes Final today, making it four years running in which the Don Torcuato club is the national club champion of Argentina. Today’s victory was a one-sided affair with Hindú outclassing Newman 25-0.

The match was played at Velez Sarsfield in Buenos Aires and followed the Super Rugby match between Los Jaguares and the Stormers. The unique setting made for a first match of its kind and saw Hindú supporters given double reason to celebrate.

Overall it was Hindú’s 9th Nacional de Clubes title. This is five more than the next best club with 4 titles – SIC. Rosario club Duendes has 3 titles while 8 others have won once each since competition was established in 1993.

RWC 2011 fly half Santiago Fernández directed play well for Hindú in the opening half. His vision created opportunities which he would convert into the opening points with a 17th minute penalty. Five minutes later he would convert the game’s opening try, scored by Martín Cancelliere and would land a 39th minute penalty.

Hindú half time lead was 13-0. The substantial lead would grow after the break through fullback Francisco Mateu. His try was converted by Fernández and there was another to follow. Replacement Luca Iachetti rounded off the impressive performance from Hindú to see the club continue its national club dominance.
