Argentina and Scotland met in Resistencia, Chaco on Saturday. The match was the first of two between the countries in 2018, the second will be played in Edinburgh in November.
For Argentina their home match marked their third of as many home matches in the June Internationals. Coming off a dismal two match series against Wales they were looking to return to winning ways against Scotland.
The Scots also went into Resistencia as a troubled team. They had fallen to a historic defeat against the USA one week earlier in Houston, Texas. A bulked-up team had Scotland ready to continue their winning streak against Los Pumas.
From the opening minute it was apparent which team had better focus and which was wanting to be there. The visitors produced a class of team rugby, embarrassing Argentina badly. Three tries were scored in the opening 14 minutes of play and Scotland would hold a remarkable 33 point lead at half time.
Argentina were again outplayed in the second half though the bench were notably better performers. With a new coach set to be announced there may well be widespread changes for the Rugby Championship.
