Americas Rankings – June 24 2018

The June Internationals have come and gone for 2018. With this it is time to update the Americas Rankings for the final time following the end of the test season for those north of the equator. The June 24 edition of the Americas Rankings show further grow for the USA while Argentina and Canada continue to fall.

Canada’s 42-17 home defeat against the USA sees the home side losing 0.27 rankings points. It means Canada falls further behind Uruguay and closer to Brazil in the Americas Rankings. The USA gains further ground towards the no 1 placed Argentina.

While Canada were outplayed in Halifax Argentina were appalling in Resistencia. The South Americans 44-15 loss against Scotland sees Argentina further behind Fiji in the World Rankings and now very close to falling below Japan. The updated Americas Rankings have Argentina on 75.55 points.

Cancelled this weekend was the Cayman Islands vs Trinidad & Tobago fixture. As such there was no Rugby Americas North action. Trinidad & Tobago were unable to commit to the match and with it being unable to be rescheduled it leaves Cayman Islands vs USA South Panthers as the final fixture for 2018.

Guatemala’s home international against El Salvador counted towards the Americas Rankings. Yet with Los Jaguares having a notably higher ranking their 48-22 victory sees no change for either country.

Costa Rica continues to be ranked on 32.16 points. This is the case despite the country having gained World Rugby membership in November 2017. Upon gaining World Rugby membership unions enter the World Rankings and do so with a 30.00 ranking.
