The USA Eagles claimed a historic first win in the professional era over a Tier 1 opponent. The North Americans defeated Scotland 30-29 at Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday evening.
The result of the match sees the USA claiming a big gain in the World and Americas Rankings. For Scotland defeat sees them falling one place from 6th to 7th in the world.
The USA Eagles were magnificent, winning against the odds and doing so with determination. Scotland enjoyed an impressive start only for the home side to fight back from a 24-13 half time deficit.
Captain America Blaine Scully led by example and was well supported by a number of fellow European-based players. Major League Rugby players were impressive, combining with those playing their rugby across the Atlantic. This, though, was a case of a team coming right and completing the result.
