Chile names training squad for Rugby World Cup Sevens

Chile have named a 13-man squad to prepare for the upcoming Rugby World Cup Sevens. Los Condores are one of 24 teams who will compete in a revised knock-out structure at the tournament in San Francisco next month. They have drawn Ireland in their first round match-up.

Leading the side is experienced captain Felipe Brangier, who is joined by a strong group that has now been training together for several months. Rodrigo Fernandez, Pedro Verschae, Lucas Westcott, and Ignacio Silva were part of Chile’s senior test side during the recent Sudamericano 6 Naciones.

As part of their final preparations for the tournament the team will hold a training camp in Fiji from June 18-24. Last month they won an historic Gold Medal at the South American Games in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
