RAN Trophy Preview – Dominican Republic vs Guadeloupe

The third and final fixture of the 2018 RAN Trophy takes place on Saturday in Santo Domingo. The Dominican Republic are to have home advantage against Guadeloupe. A win for the home side will see them crowned champions.

Both the Dominican Republic and Guadeloupe have already faced Curaçao this year. First to do so was the Dominican Republic. Playing away at the Kaya Mafalda Salsbach in Curaçao, the Dominican Republic completed an impressive 46-17 victory.

Curaçao recovered from the home defeat to travel to Guadeloupe and win 7-5 at the Stade Municipal des Abymes René-Serge Nabajoth. Both results indicate the Dominican Republic is well placed to win the RAN Trophy.

The Dominican Republic’s favoritism is aided by rankings with them having 30.76 points compared to Guadeloupe with 28.41 points. This means the Dominican Republic enter the match as 24th in the Americas Rankings while Guadeloupe do so ranked 37th.

A home triumph is thereby expected and Americas Rugby News predicts the Dominican Republic to defeat Guadeloupe by 25 points.
