Peterson called up to Eagles as Tameilau drops out

The Eagles have made another change to their roster for the June internationals. David Tameilau has dropped out of the squad due to personal reasons. Taking his place is Glasgow Warriors lock Greg Peterson. The 27-year-old was due to be rested for the three-match series but will now join the squad for the games against Russia, Scotland, and Canada.

Peterson has been a regular in the Eagles squad since making his debut in November 2014. The former Australia u20 international qualifies for the USA thanks to his American grandfather and opted to pursue test honors ahead of the 2015 World Cup, where he started in three matches.

With Peterson a specialist lock it now seems likely that Samu Manoa will be viewed as a loose forward. Ben Landry appeared as a blindside flanker during the Americas Pacific Challenge and also started the November tests against Germany and Georgia in the No6 shirt but has been used exclusively in the second row for the Glendale Raptors in Major League Rugby.

Three players have now dropped out of the original 30-man squad named by Gary Gold. Callum Black withdrew from contention shortly after the team was named, replaced by Titi Lamositele. Earlier today Vili Toluta’u was called up in place of the unavailable Tony Lamborn. Also added to the group is Junior All-American prop David Ainu’u.
