U20 Championship Preview – Argentina vs Scotland

The second match day of the 2018 World Rugby U20’s sees Argentina vs Scotland on Sunday. Both sides lost their opening matches with Los Pumitas falling to England and Scotland being beaten at the death by Italy.

The Argentina U20’s line-up features four changes. In the front-row Lucio Sordoni replaces Mayco Vivas at tighthead prop while Santiago Grondona starts at flanker in place of Santiago Ruiz in the remaining change to the pack.

In the backs there are also two changes. At scrum-half Gonzalo García takes over from Manuel Nogués while outwide Pablo Avellaneda makes way for Leopoldo Herrera on the right wing.

Scotland’s U20’s line-up features six changes from that which faced Italy. A double change at prop sees both Sam Grahamslaw and Murphy Walker elevated from the bench. In the second-row Marshall Sykes has also been handed a start as has Guy Graham who will play flanker.

In the backs there are two changes. At fly half Callum McLelland takes over from Ross Thompson while Sam Yawayawa starts on the left wing.

Argentina’s U20’s enter the match as favorites. They have been better performances than have Scotland in the tournament. They also gave title contenders England a serious contest before England ran away in the final quarter. Scotland’s loss to Italy indicates the team is not as strong as it could be.
