Former Puma to Sing La Marseillaise at Top 14 Final

A Former Puma to Sign La Marseillaise at the Top 14 Final. The French club season ends on Saturday at the Stade de France in Paris with Montpellier and Castres squaring off to determine the 2018 Top 14 Champion.

For the special occasion the LNR have arranged for Omar Hasan to sing the French national anthem, la Marseillaise prematch.

The 47-year-old Hasan is no stranger to French rugby. As a player he had an outstanding career in the country. From 1998-1999 he played for Auch followed by Agen from 1999-2004 and from 2004-2008 he did so for Toulouse. He would win both the Top 14 title and European Champions Cup with Toulouse, doing so in 2008 and 2005 respectively.

The 2008 Top 14 Final was Hasan’s retirement match. Both he and Patricio Albacete were Top 14 Champions on that day. The same pair had won Bronze at the RWC in the prior October. The Bronze Final against France was Hasan’s 65th and final test cap.

Prior to calling France home Hasan was one of Argentina’s first professional rugby players. He played in both New Zealand and Australia for Wellington and the Brumbies from 1996-1998.

With his rugby career over Hasan turned to his other talent – Opera. He is a baritone and has previously sung the Argentine national anthem at Rugby Championship matches.
