Juan Imhoff Pens New 4-Year Contract with Racing 92

Argentine star winger Juan Imhoff has penned a new 4-year contract with Racing 92. The player made the announcement on social media.

The new arrangement sees Imhoff remaining with the Parisian club until 2022. It will see him completing over a decade of playing for the club he arrived at in 2011. His initial arrival was as a medical joker yet his instant impression saw him signing on a full-time basis.

During his time with Racing 92 Imhoff has appeared in both the Champions Cup and Top 14 Finals. He won the latter in 2016, downing Toulon in Barcelona, Spain.

In having signed a new contract, the prospects of Imhoff playing Super Rugby are extremely low. He turned 30 earlier this month.

This past Saturday Imhoff scored one of the best tries of the season. Racing 92 ultimately fell to Castres who will face Montpellier in the final this coming Saturday at the Stade de France in Paris.

In addition to having featured in tournament finals for Racing 92, the Rosario speedster has also scored 44 tries in the Top 14 and 18 in the European Champions Cup. These have come in 141 appearances for the club.

For his country Imhoff has earned 35 caps. This includes playing in two RWCs. At RWC 2011 he scored two tries – one against each of Georgia and Romania. In 2015 he crossed against Georgia, Ireland and Tonga, scoring five times in total. His double against Ireland was a highlight of the tournament.

In total Imhoff has 21 tries for Los Pumas. Yet he has been unable to add to his caps total or tries since RWC 2015. Argentina’s policy of limiting selection to Super Rugby has seen Imhoff missing out on playing test rugby. In 2016 he did, however, represent Argentina at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
