Jaguares Only for Argentina for June Internationals

It is to be Jaguares only playing for Argentina in the June Internationals. Despite clearance having been given for European-Based players to return none are to do so against Wales or Scotland next month.

For now the policy of 2016-2017 remains in force. This means Los Pumas are to be Los Jaguares players. Possibilities exist for some outside of Super Rugby who are involved in other Argentine teams – Los Pumas 7’s and the Argentina XV.

The positive results of Los Jaguares in 2018 under Mario Ledesma has motivated the changed stance. Argentina were set to have a roster featuring players based in Europe but that is now on hold. It is, nonetheless, expected to be liberated for the Rugby Championship with players in England and France expected to be selected.

The decision to revert to a Jaguares-only Pumas line-up is now to be a trial for the Rugby Championship. Depending on the performance of the team, and individual players, against Wales and Scotland a final decision will come regarding the roster to take-on Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Daniel Hourcade’s roster for the June Internationals is to be announced following the completion of Los Jaguares’ Super Rugby fixtures this month. The final match is taking place today in Buenos Aires against the Sharks.

Hourcade’s roster is expected to match that used earlier this month for video training. Included will be Super Rugby players and some Argentina XV members who have been unable to play in Jaguars colors this year due to injuries.

Below is the roster which Hourcade selected for a training camp earlier this month. The same group of players are likely to be confirmed as being Argentina’s roster for the June Internationals. A possible exception is a return for Manuel Montero. He may join Tomás Cubelli and Matías Moroni in the Pumas despite playing zero Super Rugby in 2018.
