Ainu’u called up to Eagles squad

Junior All-American prop David Ainu’u has been drafted into the Senior Eagles squad for the June test series. Still just 18 years old, he made headlines when he joined the Toulouse Academy side in December. Hailing from Olympia, he joints fellow Washington native Titi Lamositele in the group that is now expanded to 31 players. Callum Black dropped out of the squad just over a week ago.

The call-up likely means that Ainu’u will not be part of the initial Junior All-American team to play Canada in a two-match qualifying series for the World Rugby u20 Trophy. With the All-Americans set to play both of their games in Houston during the week of the Eagles test against Scotland, however, there remains a chance he could play a part if not selected for the Scotland test.

Fixtures and a detailed Eagles roster for the June tests can be seen here.
