Chile To Face Belgium and Maori All Blacks in November

Chile is to face Belgium and the Maori All Blacks in November. Los Cóndores will play against both teams at home in yet to be determined venues.

On November 10 Chile will play host to Belgium in a capped test match. Seven days later the South Americans will play host to the Maori All Blacks.

In hosting Belgium, Chile are to end a long period without receiving a European opponent. The last country to play a test in Chile was Spain in 2013. Prior to that the last match against a European country was in 2007, also against Spain.

Never before has Belgium made an appearance in Chile. The Western European country has also not been regularly involved in the November International window. Last November Belgium took-on Brazil at home while in 2010 Belgium faced Canada.

The home matches are to serve Chile as preparation ahead of the 2019 Americas Rugby Championship (ARC), the fourth edition of the annual competition.

The ARC has revolutionized rugby for all competing countries. For Chile it has had the added benefit of including Los Cóndores in the November Internationals window. In 2016 they placed host to South Korea, facing the Asian country twice. In 2017 Chile faced Hong Kong, Kenya, and Russia in Hong Kong before facing Germany in Offenbach.

For the Maori All Blacks it is to be a part of a larger tour. In addition to playing in Chile the Maori All Blacks are confirmed for a November 03 match against the USA in Chicago.

The fixture at Chicago’s Soldier Field falls two weeks before the match against Los Cóndores. It is expected that additional fixtures will be added. Brazil is expected to confirm a home match against the Maori All Blacks on November 10.

Last year the Maori All Blacks started their November Internationals with a match against Canada in November. With the Canadians involved in RWC repechage this year there will be no repeat of the November 2017 fixture.
