Curaçao Edge Out Guadeloupe

Curaçao edged out Guadeloupe on Friday, winning a low scoring match 7-5. Played at the Stade Municipal des Abymes René-Serge Nabajoth, Curaçao claimed an away victory to get their first win of 2018.

In their prior match Curaçao lost at home against the Dominican Republic in April. The Curaçao vs Dominican Republic fixture was the opening match of the 2018 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s XV’s.

Friday’s fixture was the second of three RAN 2018 Trophy matches. The remaining match will see the Dominican Republic playing at home against Guadeloupe on June 09. A win for the home side will see them claiming the inaugural title.

The match was Guadeloupe’s first since the Americas Rankings began. Their home defeat will see them falling while Curaçao is set to rise notably. Going into the match Curaçao occupied 39th, or bottom, place in the Americas Rankings.
