Bryce Campbell Signs for London Irish

USA Eagles mid-fielder Bryce Campbell has signed for London Irish, the club has confirmed. The 15-time capped Eagle will move to the English club for the 2018-19 season.

Aged 23, Campbell has been a constant for the Eagles since debuting in November 2016. His first cap came against Romania in Bucharest as part of the USA’s end of year tour.

A native of Indianapolis, Campbell has appeared in two Americas Rugby Championship tournaments as well as the RWC 2019 qualifiers. His most recent cap was against Uruguay in the USA’s dominant 61-19 victory in Montevideo.

That match was the Eagles’ most recent fixture. They are to return to the field in June for three matches. Campbell has been named in the roster by Gary Gold for the summer fixtures against Canada, Russia and Scotland.

Campbell’s move to London Irish sees him departing the Glendale Raptors. In the inaugural season of Major League Rugby, Campbell has demonstrated his abilities. He was a try scorer in last weekend’s away win over the Utah Warriors.

London Irish finished bottom of the English Premiership in the 2017-2018 season. As a result the club was relegated to the RFU Championship for the 2018-2019 season. London Irish are to trade places with Bristol who have been promoted while the Exiles will play in the second division.

Campbell joins Will Hooley (Bedford Blues) and Dino Walren (London Scottish) as the Eagles contingent in the RFU Championship. Competing in the 2018-2019 English Premiership are Callum Black and Joe Taufete’e (Worcester), Chris Baumann (Leicester), Nick Civetta (Newcastle), Titi Lamositele (Saracens), and AJ MacGinty (Sale). Also in the UK are Greg Peterson (Glasgow) and captain Blaine Scully (Cardiff Blues).
