Argentina and USA Players to Start European Challenge Cup Final

Both Argentina and the USA are to have players featuring in the European Challenge Cup Final. Taking place on Friday in Bilbao, Spain Gloucester and the Cardiff Blues will battle-out-over Europe’s second most important trophy.

Gloucester go into the match with RWC 2011 and 2015 Puma Mariano Galarza in the run-on team. Galarza has been named to start in the second-row for the English west country side.

The Cardiff Blues have named USA Eagles captain Blaine Scully to start. The Californian veteran of RWCs 2011 and 2015 will play on the right wing. Next month he will be playing for the Eagles against Canada, Russia and Scotland.

Gloucester contested the 2017 European Challenge Cup Final, falling 25-17 to Stade Français in Edinburgh, Scotland. It saw RWC 1999 and 2003 Puma Gonzalo Quesada completing the Top 14 and Challenge Cup double as the Parisians coach.

Back in 2015 Gloucester were also in the final, this time coming out as winners. They defeated Edinburgh 19-13 in London, England. The Cardiff Blues are also prior winners, having defeated Toulon 28-21 in Marseilles, France in the 2010 Final.
