Nations Cup Fixtures Announced

The fixtures have been announced for next month’s Nations Cup competition. The World Rugby tournament will take place at the Estadio Parque Artigas near Montevideo, Uruguay June from 02-10.

Competing will be Uruguay in addition to the Argentina XV, Emerging Italy and Fiji Warriors. The three visitors are the respective ‘A’ side of the countries.

It is to be the second consecutive year in which Uruguay hosts the Nations Cup. The 2017 edition saw Los Teros making history, in being crowned winners. Victories over Emerging Italy, Russia and Spain helped propel the team to their Americas 2 success in qualifying for RWC 2019.

Changes from 2017 sees the competition reduced from six to four teams. 2017 competitors Namibia are to be involved with Africa’s RWC qualifiers at this time. Both Russia and Spain competed in Rugby Europe’s RWC qualifiers which were won in controversial fashion by Romania.

The Nations Cup will be played over three match days. All three are to be double-headers with each team having the opportunity to play each other once.
