Bosch continues to tempt Pumas selectors

Marcelo Bosch continues to give Argentine selectors further reason to select him. The Argentine center was a try scorer on Sunday, crossing for Saracens’ away victory over London Irish.

Saracens’ victory saw the London-based side securing a home Semi Final in this season’s English Premiership. Both Bosch and fellow RWC 2011 and 2015 Puma Juan Figallo were involved in the winning effort.

Bosch and Figallo alike are players to have missed out on earning caps in 2016 and 2017. With Argentina enforcing a strict policy of blocking those playing in European leagues neither player has earned a cap since RWC 2015.

The outside center position has seen Matiás Orlando and Matías Moroni used by Daniel Hourcade. In this season’s Super Rugby Moroni is yet to make an appearance. He remains sidelined through injury. With a serious lack of game time his place in the June Internationals is far from being a foregone conclusion.

Orlando has played every match at outside center for Los Jaguares this year. Additional options at Los Jaguares come in the form of players moving position. One of Emiliano Boffelli, Jerónimo de la Fuente, and Santiago González Iglesias could be used as cover for Orlando.

Alternatively there is a far greater likelihood – recall Bosch. Despite his non-involvement with Argentina over the past two years little debate remains as to him being Argentina’s leading outside center.
