DTH van der Merwe scored two tries on Saturday. He was making his 100th appearance for the Glasgow Warriors. While his side fell to a 24-19 defeat the Canadian international had a memorable game and is in top form ahead of the upcoming June Internationals.
van der Merwe’s scores accounted for two of three scored by Glasgow in the match. Edinburgh also scored three but had greater success at kicking for goal to claim the 1872 Cup.
The opening try saw van der Merwe scoring in the left corner. He chased and gathered the bounce of a Finn Russell cross-kick before bumping off the attempted tackle of Blair Kinghorn to score.
His second try came in the second half. It again saw van der Merwe combining with Finn Russell. This time Russell threw a looping pass in which the Canadian gathered and touched down despite the presence of defenders Dougie Fife and Nathan Fowles.
