One more year for Blanchet at Bedford

Canadian flanker Justin Blanchet has extended his stay at Bedford Blues for another year. The 24-year-old has been a regular in the Blues lineup since joining the club from the Exeter Chiefs academy ahead of the 2014-15 season. Across all competitions he has played more than 60 games in his four years with the club despite missing time with injuries.

Born in Montreal, Blanchet played for Canada at u17 level and was part of an extended England u20 group. He remains eligible for to represent Canada but has yet to be included in any senior national sides. This season has seen him battle through an arm injury that has ruled him out of the rest of the season.

Bedford play in the second professional division of English rugby, the Greene King IPA Championship. After defeating Richmond in their season finale on Saturday they finished third overall on the table, behind Ealing Trailfinders and promotion-winners Bristol. Other notables at the club include former England scrumhalf Lee Dickson, Wales fullback Chris Czekaj, and USA Eagles flyhalf Will Hooley.
