Imhoff Bags an Intercept Double

Juan Imhoff scored two tries today for Racing 92. He did so in unlikely fashion as both of his tries came from intercepts. The Argentine winger helped his club to a 39-15 away victor over Bordeaux.

Both of Imhoff’s tries came in the second half. His first try was from a clean intercept off a pass from scrum-half Baptiste Serin. The Argentine winger gathered the pass and ran 63 meters to score.

Try number two came eight minutes from full-time. Again, Bordeaux proved to be their own worst enemy. This time Nans Ducuing passed poorly with Imhoff graciously punishing Bordeaux for their risk-taking.

Next weekend sees the 26 and final round of the regular season being played. Racing 92 will have home advantage against Agen. With a bonus point likely the result would confirm the team for the Semi Finals, thereby skipping barrage. With the club facing Leinster in the Champions Cup Final a big win over Agen is now paramount.

This season’s Top 14 Final will be played in Paris on June 02. The fixture falls before the start of the June Internationals but those involved are to have restricted training opportunities with their international teams.

Imhoff is expected to return to Los Pumas this year. The UAR has green-lighted a changed policy which will enable Daniel Hourcade to select all players irrespective of whether they are based at home or abroad. Imhoff has not played for Los Pumas since RWC 2015.
