Dominant Second Half Sees Jamaica Winning in Barbados

A dominant second half performance saw Jamaica winning away today in Barbados. The Crocs went from leading 15-14 at half time to complete a 50-14 victory.

Today’s match was the first of two between the countries this year. It was a Rugby Americas North (RAN) Mens 15’s fixture and part of the new RAN Cup format.

Jamaica started the match strongly. Early tries in the 10th and 12th minutes gave the Crocs a 10-0 lead. Barbados would strike back with a converted try but they would never hold the lead in the match.

Jamaica’s third try was scored by captain Oshane Edie, his second of the match. The 24th minute score would be Jamaica’s final score of the opening half. It would also be unconverted while Barbados hooker Jeren Clarke would cross for his and the Bajan’s second to make it a 15-14 half time scoreline.

In the second half Jamaica not only dominated but they also punished the Bajan’s errors. A dominant performance gave them a memorable victory and puts them in a strong position to win promotion to the 2019 RAN Championship.

The return fixture will take place on May 12. Barbados will travel to Jamaica for the match. It is to be one of three RAN fixtures that date. The others will be Bermuda vs the USA South Panthers and Guadeloupe at home against Curaçao.

All RAN matches not involving the USA South Panthers count towards the Americas Rankings. The rankings are updated on Sundays.
