Facundo Isa Scores Against Top 14 Leaders

Facundo Isa scored against Top 14 leaders Montpellier on Saturday. The Argentine back-rower’s try helped Toulon to a 32-17 home victory. In addition to scoring, Isa also had a hand in assisting a try for Chris Ashton.

Isa’s own try came from close range. It was a simple pick-and-go score with the Argentine forward using his strength to touch the ball down despite the Montpellier defense appearing to have him wrapped-up.

The important win sees the club now have one foot into the play-off’s. It sees Toulon now two points adrift of the second placed Toulouse and Racing 92 who both have 70 points. Montpellier remain leaders with 76.

Toulon’s remaining two regular season matches are at home to Castres and away to Pau. One win will be enough to secure a place in the barrage. Depending on other results two wins may see Toulon straight into the Semi Finals.

Facundo Isa’s name is expected to be read out by Daniel Hourcade again this year. His involvement in the June Internationals may well depend on how well Toulon perform in the play-off’s. The barrage weekend is May 18-19 with the Semi Finals taking place on May 25-26. The Final is on June 2, one week before Argentina’s first home match of the year against Wales.
