Buenos Aires Clubs Charge Into Nacional de Clubes Quarter Finals

Buenos Aires clubs are to feature heavily in the Nacional de Clubes Quarter Finals. Seven of the eight places have been taken by URBA clubs.

All four Quarter Finals are to take place on Saturday May 05. The one club not from Buenos Aires is Duendes. The club has produced notable players including Juan Imhoff, Pablo Bouza and Jerónimo de la Fuente.

Duendes will play away against San Luis, the home club of Los Pumas’ captain Agustín Creevy. San Luis won the Nacional de Clubes title back in 1998. Looking to win twenty years later, the team is home to Argentina XV no 8 Rodrigo Bruni.

2015, 2016 and 2017 champions Hindú are to play at home against Alumni. The Don Torcuato club is home to former RWC Pumas Horacio Agulla, Santiago Fernández and Hernán Senillosa. Jaguares Felipe Ezcurra and Joaquín Díaz Bonilla in addition to former Newcastle Falcon Belisario Agulla are additional Hindú players.

1993, 1994, 2006, and 2008 champions SIC will be at home against Newman. Both clubs have had numerous Pumas over the years with names including Diego Albanese, Diego Cuesto Silva, Juan Manuel Leguizamón, Rolando Martín and Gonzalo Tiesi for SIC. Marcos Ayerza, Felipe Contepomi, Sergio Ferrando and Julián Montoya are Newman products.

Also competing will be Pucará and Belgrano. Neither club has a Nacional de Clubes title though Belgrano were beaten finalists in 2016. Marcelo Bosch and Tomás Cubelli are both former Belgrano players while Pucará currently has Lucas González Amorosino and Manuel Montero on their roster.
