Pro D2 – Final Round Preview

The regular season of the Pro D2 ends this weekend. The final round has all 16 teams taking to the field at the same time. With eight matches played together no team can know precisely what they require to potentially reach the play-off’s or even avoid relegation. All eight matches are to be played on Sunday with the kick-off time being 2:30pm local time.

Four-time High School All American Siaosi Mahoni starts for Narbonne who play host to Bayonne. He plays in the second-row while former Jaguar, Segundo Tuculet starts on the right wing. Involved for Bayonne have named Juan Pablo Orlandi on their bench.

The Fédérale 1 bound Dax are at home against Vannes. Starting at fly half will be Uruguayan pivot Felipe Berchesi. Vannes go into the match with Eric Fry as their starting Loose Head. He is well placed for a return to the Eagles for the June Internationals.

The recent slip of form from Colomiers means they will not be involved in the play-off’s. Their season ends against Massy, a team to have made the jump from the Fédérale 1 successfully. Colomiers have named former Puma Sebastián Poet as their replacement fly half.

Gonzalo Quesada’s Biarritz are 6th and can advance depending on results. They host joint leaders Montauban. Quesada has named Argentine Leandro Mario Assi at Tight Head while Victor Damian Arias starts at Tight Head for the visitors.

A win for Béziers will see the club into the play-off’s. They are up against former Fédérale 1 side Nevers, a team to have shocked many this season. Canadian center Conor Trainor starts in the mid-field for Nevers.

Perpignan are on track to complete a return to the Top 14. They need a home win over Carcassonne, with a bonus point aiding their cause. Carcassonne are safe from relegation after moving up the ladder from a very dangerous position. Involved for Carcassonne will be Argentina XV player Juan Cappiello and countryman Demian Panizzo. They start at outside center and lock respectively.
