Dominican Republic Defeat Curaçao in 2018 RAN Opener

The 2018 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s 15’s competition is underway. The 2018 RAN opener took place at Kaya Mafalda Salsbach in Curaçao.

The match was the first for the year in RAN and also the first under the new format. The Dominican Republic recorded a 46-17 away victory in the season opener.

Curaçao and the Dominican Republic are joined by Guadeloupe in the 2018 RAN Trophy division. The Trophy is the third division of RAN behind the Championship and Cup Divisions.

Currently there is no promotion or relegation between the Cup and Trophy divisions. RAN has indicated that it, nonetheless, intends to include more countries in the 2019 competition.

Both Curaçao and Dominican Republic competed in the 2017 competition while Guadeloupe are newcomers for 2018. Guadeloupe’s first game will be at home against Curaçao on May 12.

Next up in the 2018 RAN Men’s 15’s is Barbados vs Jamaica. They will square-off on April 28 as part of the Cup Division.
