Canada Women start strong at Commonwealth Games

Canada have enjoyed a strong start to the first ever Women’s Rugby Sevens event at the Commonwealth Games. Opening day wins against South Africa and Kenya have marked them as one of three undefeated teams heading into Day Two.

A perfect opening saw them rout South Africa by 29-0. Five different players found the try-line – Caroline Crossley, Britt Benn, Sara Kaljuvee, and Charity Williams all scored in the first half with Hannah Darling touching down in the second half. Ghislaine Landry added two conversions.

The second game against Kenya wasn’t without its problem moments but the final score was still a positive one at 24-12. Julia Greenshields, Hannah Darling, and Bianca Farella grabbed first half tries. Farella made it two in the second half with Breanne Nicholas successful with two conversions.
