Argentine Venues Set for Rugby Championship

Argentine venues are now set for the 2018 Rugby Championship. Los Pumas are to play their home matches in Buenos Aires, Salta and Mendoza.

While the three venues are equal to that of the 2017 competition the only repeated fixture is Argentina vs New Zealand. That game will again take place at the Estadio Vélez Sarsfield in Buenos Aires.

Salta and Mendoza are to switch roles. While South Africa played in Salta and Australia in 2017 for 2018 the opposite will take place. This means Australia will make a first ever appearance in the northern Argentine city. Prior matches between Argentina and Australia have been in Rosario, Mendoza and London (UK).

The Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza hosted South Africa for the first and second editions of the Rugby Championship in 2012 and 2013. The 2018 tournament marks a third opportunity and sees the city selected despite calls for Córdoba to host it instead.

Argentina’s away matches in the tournament are to be in Durban, Nelson, and the Gold Coast.
