Four Added for Jaguares Tour To Oceania

Four players have been added for Los Jaguares’ upcoming tour to Oceania. Head Coach Mario Ledesma has named a 27-man roster for the four-match tour. The demanding schedule will see matches against the Melbourne Rebels, Brumbies, Blues and Chiefs over consecutive weekends.

Ledesma has named the same 23 players that faced the Crusaders and has four others added to complete the roster. Those added are no 8 Leonardo Senatore, prop Santiago Medrano, inside center Bautista Ezcurra, and winger Sebastián Cancelliere.

For Medrano it is a first opportunity. The Regatas Bella Vista prop is yet to make an appearance in Super Rugby. He joins veterans Santiago García Botta and Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro in addition to rookies Javier Díaz and Juan Pablo Zeiss as Ledesma’s props for the tour. Medrano is among the leading prospects for Argentina having impressed for both Los Pumitas and the Argentina XV.

Yet to make an appearance this season are Tomás Cubelli, Matías Moroni and Enrique Pieretto. All remain in doubt for the entire 2018 Super Rugby campaign. Meanwhile Center Jerónimo de la Fuente made his first start of the season against the Crusaders.

Center Santiago Álvarez is yet to make an appearance all season. He and fly half Joaquín Díaz Bonilla are the notable backs omitted from the tour. Following the retirement of Juan Martín Hernández Nicolás Sánchez is the only specialist fly half in Ledesma’s 27-man roster. Santiago González Iglesias and Bautista Ezcurra will provide cover for Sánchez on tour.

The selections for fly half may be an indication of the French based Patricio Fernández and Benjamín Urdapilleta having opportunities for Argentina in June.
