British & Irish Cup – Quarter Finals Preview

The Greene King IPA Championship has the weekend off but that doesn’t mean that all of its teams get to kick their feet up. Five of them geared up for the British & Irish Cup Quarter Finals with two matches each on Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s action saw Leinster ‘A’ defeat Munster ‘A’ by 17-6 to qualify for the Semi Finals. Also advancing are Jersey Reds, who got the better of Doncaster Knights by 22-10. US Eagles lock Nick Civetta was a replacement for Doncaster as he continues to be loaned out from Newcastle Falcons.

On Saturday Bedford Blues host Ulster Ravens at Goldington Road. New USA cap Will Hooley starts at flyhalf for the Blues having signed a new one-year deal with the club this past week. Canadian flanker Justin Blanchet has been named on the bench.

Three more Canucks will play at Vallis Way. Shane O’Leary continues at flyhalf for Ealing Trailfinders. He will play for Nottingham next season. Visiting Cornish Pirates have Brett Beukeboom in the second row and Matt Evans on the wing, the latter shaking off a knock that saw him leave the game early last week. Argentine midfielder Nicolás de Battista will captain the side.
