The fixtures for the revamped and re-branded Sudamericano 6 Naciones ‘A’ have now been confirmed. Promoted to the top division this year are Colombia who join regulars Paraguay, Chile, and Brazil. The two World Cup sides – Argentina and Uruguay – will not field test sides, instead entering the Argentina XV and the Uruguay XV.
As a result only four of the nine matches will be considered full tests with World Rugby Rankings points on the line. Brazil host Chile in the first round on May 5, Colombia travel to Paraguay on May 12, and there are two on May 19 – Chile vs Paraguay and Brazil vs Colombia.
Each team will play three matches, with the winner the team with the most points. Try-scoring bonus points will be awarded for a three-try advantage over the opponents rather than the traditional four-try format. Kickoff times and venues are still to be confirmed.
