Argentina call in the Cavalry for Hong Kong

Argentina have bolstered their side ahead of the Hong Kong Sevens with the addition of four Olympians to their ranks. The team is currently in 5th place over all after six events on the 2017-18 HSBC Sevens Series and trail Australia by only five points heading into the most prestigious event on the circuit.

Santiago Álvarez, Rodrigo Etchart, and Germán Schulz join the team after representing the Argentina XV in the Americas Rugby Championship. Alvarez is also part of the Jaguares training group but is yet to make his Super Rugby debut.

Leading try-scorer Franco Sábato is also recalled after recovering from injury that saw him miss out on the North American leg. Dropping out to make room for the quartet are Severiano Escobio, Tomás Passaro, Maximo Provenzano, and Maximiliano Filizzola.

Los Pumas have been drawn in Pool D for Hong Kong alongside Wales, France, and the USA. The three-day tournament begins on Friday, April 6.
