ESPN to broadcast Major League Rugby

Major League Rugby has announced a landmark deal with ESPN to broadcast 18 games across multiple platforms during the inaugural season. The new league has also confirmed that regional sports networks will also carry the same package to local markets.

With 13 games already committed to CBS Sports Network, it means that all 31 matches of the 2018 season will be broadcast live.

ESPN is a world-renowned sports media entity that broadcasts across the Americas. It regularly features rugby on its channels, including the recent Americas Rugby Championship.

League Commissioner Dean Howes made this statement in a media release.

“We are excited to have ESPN as a partner of ours. ESPN is one of the most powerful brands in sports, and we couldn’t be more pleased to provide our fans with access to MLR content through ESPN platforms.”

Seven teams are currently involved in preseason games. The regular season begins on Saturday, April 21.
