Tomás Lezana Sidelined For a Month

Tomás Lezana is sidelined through injury and out of rugby for a month. The 24-year-old flanker turned no 8 started at the back of the scrum against the Stormers in round one and the Hurricanes in round three of the current Super Rugby season.

Starting in between rounds one and three was Leonardo Senatore. The veteran specialist no 8 was a late change to play against the Lions.

Los Jaguares play their fourth match of the season on Saturday. Their opponents are Australian side the New South Wales Waratahs. For the match Head Coach Mario Ledesma is not to start Senatore nor is he to use him as a replacement. Instead flanker Javier Ortega Desio will play no 8 with Juan Manuel Leguizamón covering from the bench.

Lezana’s injury requires surgery. He is to have the operation done on his meniscus and will be out of rugby for a month.

A possible return time for Lezana is the round 8 home fixture against the Crusaders on April 7. Alternatively he could be fit for the tour to Australia and New Zealand which begins away to the Melbourne Rebels on April 14.

Lezana is the second Jaguar to be sidelined this week. He joins winger Ramiro Moyano who is out until March 24. Additional concerns surround a number of players in a range of positions. Expected back for Los Jaguares next week is center Jerónimo de la Fuente.
