RFU Championship – Round 17 Preview

Will they or won’t they? That’s the question being asked throughout the UK as deteriorating weather conditions has already seen three of Saturday’s Greene King IPA Championship fixtures postponed until next week. The other three are set to go ahead pending match-day pitch inspections.

Bedford has kept Goldington Road covered up in an effort to honor their match against Yorkshire Carnegie in the only remaining match on Saturday. Should that game go ahead Eagles international Will Hooley will guide the Blues from the flyhalf position.

As of now both of Sunday’s games are still on. Bristol welcome Jersey Reds to Ashton Gate with Gastón Cortes at tighthead prop. Former UBC Thunderbirds flanker Sam Jeffries will line up in the second row.

Cornish Pirates have already inspected Mennaye Field but will do so again before Sunday’s match. Nicolás de Battista captains the side from the midfield and Brett Beukeboom will play lock against Doncaster Knights.
