Women’s Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers – Day One Results

Day one of the Women’s Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers took place today. Played in the heartland city of Brazilian rugby, São José dos Campos both Brazil and Colombia impressed.

The Youth Olympic Games are to be played in October in Buenos Aires. Looking to compete in the Argentine capital are five South American Women’s teams. The successful qualifier will join five others from different qualifying zones from around the world.

Competing at the Estádio Martins Pereira in São José dos Campos are the Women’s u18 sides from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Paraguay. The winner will seal their place in Buenos Aires 2018.

The day one results saw Brazil and Colombia impressing. Brazil opened up by comprehensively defeating Chile. The 17-0 victory would be followed by a 24-0 win against Paraguay and a 27-0 victory over Argentina. It meant three big wins and not a single point conceded.

On day two Brazil will face Colombia in their one remaining fixture prior to the finals. Colombia are to enter day two with confidence. They begun their campaign with a 26-0 win against Argentina. In their remaining match they toppled Paraguay 19-0.
