Reggiardo and Agen Conquer Paris

The Mauricio Reggiardo coached Agen conquered Paris on Saturday. Playing an away Top 14 fixture, Agen completed a sunny come-from-behind victory against the 2015 Top 14 champions, Stade Français.

In what was a round 18 fixture, Agen completed a late 36-34 victory to return home with unlikely bonus points. The win moved Agen clear of the relegation zone. The club is now in 12th position with 27 competition points. This is two more than Brive and nine more than Oyonnax, a club to have also won away this weekend.

Involved in Agen’s win was Facundo Bosch. The Argentine hooker had a solid afternoon. He was impressive in the set-piece and  stand-out as a ball carrier. In the tight play he was a constant worker, doing the hard-yards.

Next up for Agen is a home match against league leaders, Montpellier. A win could see the club rising further up the standings and, more importantly, moving further away from the relegation zone.

Considered as a potential future Pumas Head Coach, Reggiardo has enjoyed a successful coaching career since returning from playing rugby. As a player he earned 50 cars for Argentina, including appearing in RWCs 1999 and 2003.

Bosch joined Agen from Los Jaguares a year ago. He did so due to limited opportunities with the Argentine Super Rugby franchise. Agustín Creevy and Julián Montoya continue to be the only hookers used by both Los Jaguares and Los Pumas.

In France Bosch has enjoyed a successful time and has enhanced his reputation as a quality hooker. In the Aviva Premiership Santiago Socino is another Argentine hooker to have developed in recent times. Meanwhile in the Guinness Pro 14 Championship Tomás Barravalle is playing regularly. All three are not eligible for Los Pumas due to playing in Europe.
