Guinness Pro 14 – Week 16 Preview

The Six Nations has all the attention this weekend yet there is to also be a full round of the Guinness Pro 14. Week 16 of the Celtic-Italian-South African League sees matches being played from Friday to Sunday. Taking to the field will be Americas players. The following is a preview details those involved from the Western Hemisphere.

Week 16 starts on Friday though Americas players will not feature. On Saturday Tomás Barravalle starts at hooker against Connacht in Italy. His move from Argentina to Benetton Treviso has not only seen him playing regularly but it has also seen him playing for the team during its greatest period in the Guinness Pro 14 Championship. Still sidelined through injury is Argentine center Juan Ignacio Brex.

In Swansea, Wales the Ospreys hot South African side the Cheetahs. Starting for the Welsh region will be Canadian flier Jeff Hassler. He starts the match on the right wing. Among the replacements is Hanno Dirksen, a former USA age-grade representative.

Week 16 concludes on Sunday. The one fixture of the day is to be Zebre at home against the Cardiff Blues. Starting for the Italians at fly half will be Serafin Bordoli. Fellow Argentine player Eduardo Bello is out though injury. Blaine Scully is back from international duty to take a spot on the bench for the Welsh region.
